General-purpose adhesive for tiling ceramic tiles
for internal and external use

| USE | ||||||||||||||||
| ATLAS ADHESIVE is designed for fixing wall and floor ceramic tiles (glazed tiles, terracotta, clinker, gres tiles) and non-absorbent cement, concrete and natural stone tiles. ATLAS ADHESIVE can be used on the following substrates: cement plaster, cement-lime plaster, gypsum plaster, concrete, aerated concrete, cement or anhydrite jointless floor, and rough surfaces made of bricks, blocks, hollow bricks and other similar ceramic or lime-sand materials. ATLAS ADHESIVE is general-purpose mortar used in construction industry. It is suitable for bricklaying and surface levelling as well as a surface-finishing coat. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor use with maximum bed thickness of 2÷5 mm. | ||||||||||||||||

| PROPERTIES | ||||||||||||||||
| ATLAS ADHESIVE is a ready-to-use dry mix of top-quality cement binder, aggregates and modifying agents. It has good plasticity and adhesion to various construction materials, which ensures its exceptionally general-purpose application. Owing to its operating parameters, it is very efficient, convenient and easy to use. Optimum selection of consistency and thickness of adhesion layer in accordance with recommendations (for relevant conditions of mortar application) eliminate slip of newly adhered tiles. ATLAS ADHESIVE is frost- and water-resistant. | ||||||||||||||||

| SUBSTRATE PREPARATION | ||||||||||||||||
| The substrate should be dry, stable, even and structurally sound i.e. strong enough; it should be free from anything that may weaken mortar adhesion, in particular dust, dirt, lime, oil, fat, wax, remains of emulsion and oil paint. It is recommended that any irregularities of substrate’s surface that prevent application of the appropriate layer thickness (2÷5 mm) of ATLAS ADHESIVE should be adjusted with ATLAS LEVELLING MORTAR, ATLAS PLASTERING MIX, ATLAS TEN-10 mortar, etc. If necessary, use ATLAS UNI-GRUNT PRIMING EMULSION to reduce substrate’s excessive absorption. In case of applying the adhesive to unstable substrates of bearing capacity that can hardly be determined (e.g. dusty, difficult to clean), it is recommended to make an adhesion test, i.e. to adhere a tile and check the bonding after 48 hours. In case of fixing ceramic tiles and terracotta to stable water-resistant plywood or directly on the surface of existing glazed tiles, it is recommended to apply a mortar of increased elasticity and adherence ATLAS PLUS or ATLAS ADHESIVE combined with ATLAS ELASTIC EMULSION. | ||||||||||||||||

| ADHESIVE PREPARATION | ||||||||||||||||
| In order to prepare the mortar, pour dry mortar into a container with suitable amount of water (in proportion: 0.21÷0.24 l of water for 1 kg of dry mortar) and mix until homogenous. It is best to mix it mechanically, using a drill with a mixer. The mortar is ready to use after 5 minutes and after remixing. It maintains its properties for ca. 4 hours. When using with ATLAS ELASTIC EMULSION, pour dry mixture to a water solution of the emulsion prepared in accordance with instructions found on its packaging. Continue as previously described. Mortar with ATLAS ELASTIC EMULSION maintains its properties for ca. 2 hours. | ||||||||||||||||

| APPLICATION | ||||||||||||||||
| ATLAS ADHESIVE is applied in a thin layer for tile fixing. Apply the adhesive to the prepared, primed substrate with a trowel or a smooth float made of steel and then distribute it evenly and shape it (possibly in one direction) using a notched trowel. Do not lay the mortar over excessively large surface because it maintains its adhesive properties for 10÷30 minutes (depending on the substrate and environment). In order to check if it is still possible to fix tiles, you should make a test, i.e. press the mortar with your fingers. If the adhesive has remained on the fingers, you may fix tiles. If the fingers are clean, remove the old layer of the adhesive and apply a new one. After having spread the mortar place the tile and press it towards the substrate. Apply so much mortar that when a tile is pressed down, its contact surface with the adhesive is even and as large as possible (min. 2/3 of tile surface). In case of tile fixing on floors located outdoors, it is recommended to ensure complete adhesion surface. Tile position may be adjusted within 10 minutes afterwards. If grouting is to be carried out, remove excess of the adhesive when tiles are pressed towards the surface. The floor can be accessed or grouted no earlier than 24 hours after the tiles have been fixed; the mortar achieves its full functional strength after 3 days. The information comprises basic instructions of product application and does not relieve users of responsibility for work in accordance with good construction practice and OHS regulations. | ||||||||||||||||

| CONSUMPTION | ||||||||||||||||
|
On average 1.5 kg of the adhesive is used for 1 m2 for each 1 mm of the adhesive layer. In practice consumption depends on how smooth and even the substrate is and what type of tiles is applied. Approximate consumption of adhesive for selected types of tiles
