APPLICATION

standard glazing: cap beading and sealing standard and contact glazing of counters and shop windows, glass panels, garden frames and dividing walls sealing: glass joints and skylights, metal constructions; joints of metal with plastic elements, refrigerating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, joints in ship industry mounting of metal and plastic advertising boards and signs sealing conductors and electrical cable ducts sealing in household and do-it-yourself projects Joint Design: Joint width of TYTAN PROFESSIONAL Glazing Silicone should be 6mm. For joints from 6 to 12mm wide, a seal depth of 6mm is recommended. For joints wider than 12mm, a width to depth ratio of 2:1 should be used, up to the maximum depth of 12mm. Where fillet joints are required, it is recommended to apply minimum 6mm of sealant bite to each substrate. For deeper joints use Back-up Rod. Surface Preparation: Contact area must be dry, clean, free from dust, oil, grease, bitumen and ice. Metals must be sound. Remove old materials’ residue, especially loose and not sufficiently adhering coatings. Clean and degrease the surface with acetone, isopropanol, ethanol (metals, glass) or detergent (plastics). Dry the surface before silicone application. To ensure neat sealant edges mask the areas adjacent to joints with Masking tape. In case of application on solvent-based wood varnish and unknown substrates, prior testing is a prerequisite. Application: Cut off the top of the threaded adapter. Screw the nozzle tip on and cut off at a 45º angle, with the diameter equal to the gap width. Place the cartridge in the gun and inject the joint with the sealant. Apply the material with sufficient pressure to the joint sides to ensure immediate adhesion. The applied sealant should be smoothed immediately with a wet spatula, tool or finger (with a wooden spatula soaked in Smoothing Agent or soapy water for best result). Remove masking tape right after smoothing. Cleaning: Clean while fresh. After hardening, it can be removed with Silicone Remover or mechanically.
TYTAN PROFESSIONAL Glazing Sealant should not be used: Because acetic acid is released during vulcanization avoid using TYTAN PROFESSIONAL Glazing Silicone on substrates such as concrete, cement or mortar. In such cases it is recommended to use TYTAN PROFESSIONAL Window Silicone instead.
